Thanks for the true testimonial! We had the same thing happen in high school ten years later (86-87). We'd worn out the Jimi side for a year or so, and then...BOOM. On to Booker T, Eddie Floyd, Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett, etc. Funny thing is, being the 80s, it was a steady diet of Stax and other newly-discovered R&B/soul leavened with the amazing stuff coming out on SST at the same time (Minutemen, Husker Du, and so on). Musical whiplash, but in a good way!

Yes it does, just the way you have it presented here. I just checked Amazon and it seems as though they have a few, and<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Monterey-International-Festival-Various-Artists/dp/B000008IKZ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1206880008&sr=1-5" rel="nofollow">thankfully they're not too pricy...</a>.

I hope I did the hyperlink correctly...

Vincent
Does that box set include the entire Otis set? I hadn't been able to find it anywhere other than the Jimi/Otis LP.

Yep, what they said... I haven't seen the movie in years, but thankfully I do own the CD box set that Rhino put out for the 25th anniversary. In fact, let me pull it out now and relive the magic. The way Otis gets the band to keep that Oh, Oh, Oh going on "I've been Loving You Too Long" is absolutely PRICELESS!

"...can you do that one more time, OH, OH, OH!!!"

Peace and blessings.

Oh my goodness, you've made my day. I too got into Otis b/c of this record, and I've been dying to have a digital version for the ol' iPod.

Thank you so much!

Yeah - it's a mighty set (and Duck Dunn's delivery on bass - wow), my kids love it - when I put the DVD on last weekend they were bouncing round the the room shouting 'SHAKE!!' into pretend mics .

They also love shouting 'Higher' to the Sly Stone set from 'Woodstock'.

For more of the same check out this nugget of a DVD Stax/Volt Revue Live in Norway.
