As promised, I have returned with the second mix of Beatles covers, aka Funky16Corners Radio v.75 – Golden Slumbers. I menitoned on Monday that this is a much mellower affair than F16C Radio v.74, more suited to dark nights or quiet afternoons than for anything resembling a party.
I hope you dig the mixes and I’ll be back next week with more of the stuff you love.
Peace
Larry

Larry:
Congratulations on your Anniversary, what you do here is unbelievable. Truly mind and ear-opener. I landed here 3 years ago and it has been an incredible learning experience. Above all there’s the pure enjoyment of all the wonderful music and great stories I would have never known about without the F16C. Beatles are a big part of my musical life also, the first record I ever bought with my own money being one called “Beatles ballads” (now out of print). I’m really enjoying this! I love that Here There Everywhere version with the humming and vibes. What a pairing! Very relaxing after a day of chasing around my 2 year old…

Thanks! That’s Gary McFarland with the vibes/vocalising. Most of his Verve/Skye stuff has a lot of that going on. Some people find it irritating but I love it.

Hey Larry,
Congrats and a massive thank you to The Funky 16 Corners!!!
I landed up here one fine day in 2007 and was a died-in-the-wool fan by the turn of that year.
Try never to miss anything that you post (here or on IL).
Keep up the excellent work.
I have been introduced to dozens of artists and hundreds of tunes I would never have heard!!! Great tunes, great info, great times.
You are, as they say, ‘The Man’
🙂

Beatles covers have always been fertile ground of jazz/soul/funk covers. George Benson’s “The Other Side of Abbey Road” is a classic in my eyes.

no offence, George Benson’s “The Other Side of Abbey Road” is really bad
